With WAM SOTY less than a week away, we had a chat with one of the Urban/Hip Hop finalists, Bluntfield, to talk all things music!
If your music was a person, what would their personality be like? Do you have any character that comes to mind? Since the music content is basically a reflection of myself, I guess its personality would be a sharp-tongued goofy combination of ADD, OCD and self-deprecation. Character wise maybe a result of Bill Hicks, Mick Foley and Ilana Glazer manifesting their DNA, god-fathered by Tommy Chong?
If you could perform in a concert with three other musicians/bands of your choosing, who would they be? Pinning it down to just three is hard and but stylistically I would have to go with Cypress Hill, Bliss n Eso and Tech N9ne. Plenty of bands and artists I would love to share a stage with but don’t know our styles would mesh!
What’s on your Spotify playlist at the moment? Bliss n Esos ‘Off The Grid’ recently came out so that’s been getting a fair spin on Spotify, Aside from album releases I tend to mainly YouTube hop for music which, depending on mood is a range of hip hop, drum n bass, metal and random quirky-ass solo instrumentals that are good to blaze to.
If you could talk to your younger self, what advice would you give about the music industry? Never underestimate the power of work-ethic, actively helping people and networking your ass off. Put down the bong and HUSTLE son!
What’s the plan for the rest of 2017? Both an EP (collaborating with producer Analog) and mixtape (fun muck around tracks) set for release over winter, hybrid genre shows through Mad Fap Entertainment in Spring, a handful of singles off the new LP with Rob Shaker and squeezing in some live East Coast shows are what’s in store for 2017. While the EP and mixtape will be dropping in the next few months I’m really looking forward to releasing the second full-length album and the accompanying music videos!
