The mysterious Running Touch project is a middle-grounded insertion into a body of alias’, fluently rocking back and forth between experimental electronic, indie-pop and indie-electronic sounds. In just a few short years, Running Touch has earned himself a reputation as not only an exceptional producer – but live performer, songwriter, lyricist, singer, creator and a forward-thinking visionary more than just a musician alone. In 2017 alone, Running Touch released his debut EP ‘A Body Slow’, hitting #1 on iTunes Electronic album charts and #9 overall. Closely following his EP release came a huge 15 date AUS/NZ headline tour, selling out every show across the country in a matter of weeks, including 1600 tickets in a number of days across two Corner Hotel shows in his hometown of Melbourne.
Developing a hoard of intricate stories and deeper meanings to every single little thing he projects into to the world, it’s a known fact that Running Touch is nothing short of Spectacular – and now with a name that is seeping across all corners of the globe, a mountain of unreleased music, another upcoming headline tour and his sights set on international markets, it is a sure thing that this is only the beginning for this musical mastermind.
We managed to have a chat with the elusive Running Touch to get a peek at his enigmatic ways.
If your music was a person, what would their personality be like? Do you have any character that comes to mind?
I’d say Baby from “Baby Driver.”
What’s the plan for the rest of 2017?
Pushing all the video, creative and music works I’ve been compiling throughout the year!
What’s on your music bucket list?
I think every musician would fill pages to this. I’d love to experience some of the most exciting festivals in my respective projects that specific genres have to offer (Ultra, Fuji Rock, Leeds, Tomorrow land, Jazz & Heritage Festival etc).
If you had to choose an album title as a quote to live by, which one would it be and why?
Maybe Built to Spills “Perfect From Now On” or “Soft Machine”. Theres something about a soft machine that levels itself with an undertone of care.
What is the most bizarre moment you’ve experienced during a performance?
I remember one guy making it on stage and just trying to have a normal conversation with me for a little while I was in the middle of playing. There was something hilarious about it.
If you could perform in a concert with three other musicians/bands of your choosing, who would they be?
If they had to be alive, probably Kanye and Beyonce.
What’s on your Spotify playlist at the moment?
G.L.O.S.S, Nails, Souls Of Mischief, I get lost in the Spotify world.
If you could talk to your younger self, what advice would you give about the music industry?
Never miss an opportunity to make yourself proud and no-one cares or wants to care about your opinion or vision as much as you do.
What’s in your gig bag?
Roland Octapad 30 and SPD – SX. A Nord 61 key, Fender Gilmore custom and all manner of things between. Most importantly, Tape.
Why do you use Audiofly IEMs?
Comfort, aesthetic and durability. I love the storage and look of Audiofly, it’s the cap on what is an incredible product.
