What does a normal day look like for you?
I normally start my day with a workout of some sought, so either a run or gym session. Then attack some business emails and tasks that need to be completed.
Which artist do you relate to and why?
I like Ed Sheeran! He has got a great realness about him. Started from busking on the streets to now one of the biggest artist in the world. He sings a lot about family and friends and for me, those people are very important in my life. He just comes across as real, down-to-earth individual.
What have been some high notes (highlights) in your journey?
I been very lucky to able to travel and play sport at a professional level which was a massive highlight in my life. And now with my business, being able to learn everyday about people, life and business has been really rewarding and exciting.
What have been some low notes (challenges) in your journey?
There have been a few injuries which forced me to pause my sporting career, which was a frustrating experience, and most recently, I lost my grandmother to cancer, which was shock as she was full of life and someone that inspired me to love what you do and make the most of every opportunity.
How does music keep you motivated?
For me, it’s dependent on the what I’m doing. I tend to listen to House music when I run or Hip Hop/Rap when I train in the gym. But if I’m working in the office, I like a few classics to sing along too – from the 70s, 80s and 90s
When things get tough, which songs do you turn to for inspiration/motivation?
For me it needs to be uplifting. I find that running is my meditation, so Drake- Signs is one that gets me moving and Bruce Springsteen – Streets of Philadelphia is a classic.
What tips can you share for a healthy, balanced lifestyle?
Firstly, getting good sleep is a must for me and makes a massive difference to my energy. I think you have to be realistic you can’t do everything and you need to find what routines work for you. I think the worst thing you can do is try and copy someone else. My biggest tip would be listen to your body. If it needs a rest, take it, if you have lots of energy, use it. But create your own routine and adjust it if you need to.
What advice can you give for those interested in starting a business?
Are you sure? Haha! No I think if you’re passionate about something and you want it to be successful you’ll do whatever it takes to get it off the ground. I think for me the most important tip is to talk, interact and find people who have been successful in business and ask questions. The more time you spend with these people, the better education you’ll gain. But also remember business is not for everyone and don’t be afraid to fail.
What’s currently playing on your Spotify?
I’m currently listening to Midnight Oil – King of the Mountain.. classic Aussie song.
