What does a normal day look like for you?
My day job involves developing, writing and hosting segments for SBS PopAsia (Australia’s #1 destination for Asian pop). When on set of TV show “Street Smart,” the day starts by jumping into make-up, doing a line run and filming scenes!
Which music artist do you relate to and why?
I love K-pop! So… BTS and BIGBANG are my favourites. They have a great variety of music for any kind of mood. They also sing about problems we all go though.
What have been the high notes (highlights) in your journey?
Hosting SBS PopAsia has been very memorable – being able to travel, meet K-pop stars and K-pop fans is pretty much a dream job. Also for many years, I worked on a kids television show as a Ninja (Kitchen Whiz) – Very surreal to tell your parents that you work as a Ninja full-time.
What have been the low notes (challenges) in your journey?
Trying to get started has always been challenging. It hasn’t been easy to get a foot in the door. I’ve had to do hundreds of auditions to land a job but it’s a part of the process.
When things get tough, which songs do you turn to for inspiration/motivation?
Artists I listen to when things get tough are K-pop stars DEAN, Taeyang, Zayn and Drake. All great to mellow out. For ‘pick me ups,’ I listen to Kanye lol.
How does music keep you motivated?
With the right beat, it’s hard to keep still!
With such a hectic and varying schedule, what tips can you share for keeping things balanced?
Do your best to find parts of what you do enjoyable and stay balanced by having a balanced life! I love hanging out with mates, sleeping in and spending a few days doing absolutely nothing.
What advice can you give for those interested in pursuing a career in the media industry?
I think the fundamentals are the following:
Network, stay persistent, be nice to people and work harder than everybody else. #Goodluck!
What’s currently playing on your Spotify?
K-pop group BTS is along with Zayn…. chilled vibes…
